This locality species is closely related to other members of the Davus genus, which are known for their bold patterns and active behavior.
The Mazunte Tiger Rump Tarantula displays the characteristic contrasting striping and darker body coloration typical of tiger rump tarantulas, giving it an eye-catching appearance. Like many species in this genus, it tends to be active and quick-moving, making it an interesting species to observe in the enclosure.
As a New World tarantula, Davus sp. “Mazunte” possesses urticating hairs which it may kick as a defensive behavior if disturbed. These defensive hairs are a common trait among New World species.
