This species may be the icon of the hobby. It is one of the most recognized tarantulas and has been seen on several movies such as Raiders of the Lost Ark and Home Alone. It is a large, heavy bodied, colorful species that is particularly well suited as a display tarantula. This is certainly one of the easiest pets to care for. You can go on vacation for a couple of weeks and not worry about this one! It is quite hardy and low maintenance and is great for beginners in the hobby. The B. hamoriiΒ is one of the longest living tarantulas with females living 25 years or more.
