Poecilotheria rufilata (Red Slate Ornamental Tarantula) Information + Care

Old world. Arboreal

Size: 7-9”
Growth rate: Fast
Natural Habitat: India
Housing Needs: Arboreal setup.
Temperament: Adults are generally calm but spiderlings are quite fast moving and startle easily. This species, like other poecilotheria, does have potent venom and can bolt quickly. Due to this, we do not recommend them to beginners,
Diet: Crickets, roaches, mealworms

About: This may be the largest of the arboreals and it is an amazing tarantula!  This beautiful species seems graceful and purposeful in its every move. They have yellow and green highlighting on their carapace and legs, and their underside looks to be adorned with jewels as each foot is iridescent blues and greens. This species stays out in the open more than our other Poecilotheria do. Ours have not been defensive, even when pulling the egg sac. Many collectors have kept these communally with great success, though we do want to remind you that communals do leave room for much trial and error, and we cannot guarantee no cannibalism.
