Theraphosidae sp. “Mandarin”, commonly known as the Mandarin Tarantula, is a striking Asian tarantula admired for its vivid coloration and elegant appearance. This species is newly available in the US. While the exact scientific classification of this species is still being clarified, it has become popular in the hobby due to its distinctive bright orange and mandarin-colored tones that stand out among tarantulas.

This species is believed to originate from Southeast Asia, where many tarantulas inhabit forested environments and construct burrows or retreats beneath roots and debris. 

In captivity, Theraphosidae sp. “Mandarin” thrives in an enclosure that allows for burrowing with adequate substrate and proper ventilation. Providing a secure retreat area helps the spider establish its webbing and feel comfortable within its enclosure.
